Emy Frentz Arts Guild

Mankato, MN

I+S Group (ISG) assisted in the renovation and conversion of a former church in downtown Mankato into the new Emy Frentz Arts Guild. The historic building now houses Twin Rivers Council for the Arts, the organization founded to organize the arts groups and non-profits in the Greater Mankato area. The facility includes offices, artist studio spaces, a gallery, conference room and common areas.

ISG worked to preserve details of the historic church in the renovation in order to retain the buildings status as a landmark in downtown Mankato. Repairs to the facility included roofing, stone masonry wall tuck-pointing and window restoration. Salvaged and re-milled timbers were used to frame the space between the artists’ studios down the center of the old church sanctuary. An existing circular window above the main entrance was preserved and became the inspiration for the organization’s logo.
