Providing efficiencies to meet a critical human need.

Feeding Our Communities Partners (FOCP)

North Mankato, MN

5,252 Square Feet

After outgrowing two previous facilities, this nonprofit garnered a massive community effort with donated materials and services to design a new space for their multi-use facility. Their BackPack Food Program is dedicated to providing weekend and non-school day hunger relief for elementary school children.

ISG has provided more than five years of support to further FOCP’s growth with pro bono planning and design services. The interior design and materials give the space a warehouse feel that was inspired by the pallets that hold the food brought in by distributors. ISG designers incorporated the pallets into room dividers, separating the warehouse from conference areas. To keep with the industrial look, a conference room and office were designed to resemble a shipping container.

Ample storage space allows for bulk orders that maximize the value of every food purchase. Open assembly and packing areas provide for efficient work space for volunteers and staff. This new facility allows the FOCP program to serve every elementary school in the Mankato Area Public Schools district area. With growing support from sponsors, they are also now able to support other regional school districts and communities.
