Minnesota State University, Mankato – Game Room

Minnesota State University, Mankato – Game Room

Mankato, MN

18,877 Square Feet

This award-winning, completely remodeled and refinished Game Room is the result of a collaboration among the student union board, student association and university staff. The former dated basement, complete with water and ventilation problems was transformed from a space students simply passed through into a destination.

Home to the MSU Maverick Bowling team as well as academic classes, the new 18,877 square foot area is now ADA Accessible and includes a state of the art video gaming area, billiards, table tennis, bowling lanes, vending area and a stylish lounge with comfortable seating, plasma screen TVs, high-definition viewing and surround sound. Students can gather with a group of friends for a tournament or simply catch a break from studying.

This project was selected for the 2007 Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Renovation and Construction Showcase, an annual event highlighting the best in renewed student union spaces and presents various approaches, plans and features to consider when faced with renovating challenges.
