Monroe County Aquatic Center

Monroe County Aquatic Center

Albia, IA

A community-wide effort for a modernized swimming pool resulted in an upgraded aquatics center that now includes heated water, a zero depth area, two water slides, eight different water activity units, a train slide for young children, a spacious sundeck with chairs and sunshades, six regulation lap lanes, two diving boards, and concessions.

To make this happen, the City commissioned ISG to conduct a study of the outdated pool to determine its condition and to receive recommendations for upgrading to insure that it was in compliance with Department of Health rules and regulations. The study found that the pool was in need of repairs and upgrades, as well as safety improvements in order to meet current regulations. The findings also indicated that the pool needed enhanced amenities in order for it to serve as a competitive recreational option for the area. In response to the recommendations, the community engaged ISG to design an aquatics center that now serves as a safe, efficient and high quality outdoor recreational destination for all ages.
