Meet Director of Information Technology Eric Eby
When he’s not camping with his family and two dogs, Eric helps solve a variety of technology-related issues for his fellow employee owners as ISG’s Director of Information Technology (IT). Read on to learn more about his professional journey and his favorite activities outside of the office!
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is hearing all of the positive feedback from employees and their experiences with reaching out to IT for help. I have always enjoyed working with people, fixing their technology problems, and looking for ways to improve overall performance. I want to make sure our IT team is taking care of all our end users so they can continue to complete their work, and so they don’t hesitate to reach out again for future issues!
What brought you to ISG?
Prior to joining ISG, I was a Systems Analyst for Dohrn Transfer in Rock Island, Illinois. I was looking to advance my career and move into a leadership role. The IT Director at Dohrn Transfer had no plans to leave, so I really didn’t have room to grow. My wife works from home, so we were willing to move anywhere. I received a call to interview for the Director of Information Technology (IT) position at ISG. We drove up for an in-person interview, and I started about one month later. The rest is history!
What do you like most about working in information technology (IT)?
Every day is different, and you never really know what to expect. One week might be solving a number of help desk tickets, another week we could be setting up a new office or implementing new technology to improve overall user performance.
Why did you choose to work in information technology (IT)?
I chose to work in IT because I knew technology would be a big part of the future. I was always interested in electronics, video games, and building computers, so it seemed like the best fit for me.
How do you spend your free time?
In my free time I enjoy playing video games, hanging out with my two dogs, working on cars, watching football or MMA, and camping.
What is one thing about you that most people would find surprising?
I am a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan! Growing up, my family had every game on. Both of my parents graduated from University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and my uncle was the team doctor in the 1990s.
