Cherry Street Ramp

Cherry Street Ramp

Mankato, MN

Assisting the City of Mankato with a study relative to parking needs resulted in the design of an innovative two-story ramp in the heart of downtown. The structure was designed to accommodate future retail, housing, and mixed-use spaces on successive floors.

A precast concrete system was selected as the structural system for the facility, allowing for expedient construction times and a flexible design medium. The 169 stall parking facility also serves as a transit station and major hub for the municipal bus system.

Three phases of Environmental Site Assessments were conducted resulting in the identification of contaminated soil. A Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) plan was prepared and administrated for the proper remediation and disposal of the contaminated soils.
