Franklin Rogers Park

Franklin Rogers Park

Mankato, MN

Franklin Rogers Park is the home of the Mankato Moondogs an amateur team in the North Woods League. ‘The Frank’ is an older facility that holds the charm of being an intimate ballpark where fans love to watch games. A lot of work has been done to make ‘The Frank’ a great place to play and watch. ISG has designed numerous improvements to the facility over the years, that regularly draws several thousand fans to watch the highly competitive and entertaining amateur ballgames. These improvements include the design of a steel canopy to provide shelter and shade for dedicated fans. Additional enhancements involved incorporation of handicapped accessible seating and improved storage areas and backstop fencing improvements. I+S also partnered with Musco Sports Lighting to improve field illumination while reducing light pollution into the surrounding residential neighborhoods. The design included photometric studies to ensure the lighting system met or exceeded the current standards for athletic field lighting. The system also included a remote operating system to schedule the on/off times of the lighting through computer software.

An upgraded field drainage system will be installed for the 2015 season. Future upgrades are anticipated in order to enhance the fan experience and include new dugouts, bleachers, a spectator plaza and viewing areas, improved fence lines, additional concessions and restrooms.
